I come from a long generation of teachers. My father was a principal and my mother was an art teacher.
Originally from Cape Town, currently living in Johannesburg.
Studied at UCT and completed studies in 1991 BA HDE (qualified as a teacher).
August 1992 to August 1993 – Miss SA year.
In 1994 studied in Philadelphia USA at the Institute of Human Development and did a course in Intelligence Stimulus for children. Now qualified to work on brain stimulus with the brain injured.
Married in 1994 to a New Zealander, Leighton Curd and have two children, Phillipa (6) and Thomas (4).
Did a Business Presentation Skills qualification in 1995.
1995 head of a professional schools fundraising company, raising between 1 million and 2 million on each campaign.
2000 established Educational Tutor Services (Pty) Ltd. and launched the Dial-A-Teacher service, which is a homework assistance line, run by a team of professional teachers for all learners in South Africa (Managing Director of ETS (Pty) Ltd).
Currently controlling shareholder of a company called Private Label Promotion (Pty) Ltd.

2000: Took on role of patron of Life Line/Child Line Western Cape, working in support of abused children and HIV infected and affected people.
